We have reservations for The Last Supper at 6:30pm and happened upon opera tickets at La Scala for 8:00pm. Are we crazy to book these so close together? Can we make it to the opera on time? Would a taxi be the best option?

That should not be a problem. You only get 15 minutes with The Last Supper (although because it is not crowded I think 15 minutes is adequate). So you can't linger there. It is two metro stops (if I'm remembering correctly) and a 5-10 minute walk between the two. La Scala is quite close to the Duomo (through the Galleria "mall"). Enjoy!
