Milan for one night 😊

Hi all!

My partner and I will be arriving in Milan October 14th (2025) around 6pm. We will be meeting up with his father, and staying at Hotel Aurelia for the night before heading to Varenna the following day. My question: any recommendations for a restaurant for jet lagged and woozy travelers? We love good food and will eat anything. And anything else to see that night on a stroll?

The trip was decided on 2 months ago, so we did not get tickets for The Last Supper, though I check daily 😅. Has anyone had any success with these 3rd party vendors for last minute cancelations? And any other advice for wonderful things in our limited time there would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!

Two sites you might consider are the Milan Cathedral, particularly the rooftop tour, and Sforza Castle.

If you are arriving at 6pm in MXP you will still be immigration and a full hour from the city however you decide to get there - assuming the flight is on time. If you check into the hotel etc I would expect dinner to be around 7:30 or 8:00pm or so. This isn't generally a problem in Italy where 8pm is standard dinner time but I would opt for ease of access and proximity to the hotel over trying to plan a special dinner.

You're relatively close to the Loreto metro stop so you could go out is you want to but flying from the west coast I am obliterated at this point and would opt for a quick bite and getting to bed.

My $.02, have a great trip,

I recall an earlier post from someone who headed over to the Last Supper venue very early and was able to buy a ticket in person. I don't know how recently that happened, but if you can motivate yourself to get going early that morning... I certainly wouldn't be able to, on my first full day in Europe.

if you can access the WSJ there was a big article this past weekend on how Milano is now the cool and hip place for people to live and work, it would have some suggestions

An 18 minute walk (per Google Maps) from your hotel is Osteria Mamma Rosa https://osteriamammarosa.it/. We have eaten here many times when we stay at the Hotel Berna. Online reservations taken and I suggest you do that for maybe a 20:30 timeframe giving you time. A walk before and after dinner is always nice, especially when adjusting to a time zone.
