Milan early on Sunday morning in July

We are arriving in Milan at approx 6 AM on the overnight Thello from Paris...we have about 4 hours before we catch our connecting train to Florence and wondered what we should do to pass the time. We aRe a family of 5 (kids 16, 13, and 11) and I’m planning to eat the breakfast on the train so we are all awake and fed before disembarking...I have read that Milan train station has luggage storage which we will use for our 1 suitcase so we are free to walk, search out a bakery etc. But not sure if anything will even be open? Has anyone else had a similar experi nice or itinerary? Should we just plan to stay near the train station and people watch?

Unfortunately, Milan is dead on Sundays at 6 am and nothing will be open. I suppose you could hop on the metro and go look at the Duomo but I mean just look at the exterior bc it's not open that early. I assume your transfer is at Centrale. You're better off just passing the time and eating at the station instead of on the train. Some cafes inside the station will be open. Bistrot Centrale is right outside when you exit the platforms. You can pass the time there.
I honestly wouldn't leave the station either for a walk around. The area is ugly, nothing will be open and it is easy to get lost.

I look at your journey and cannot help but wonder, why not fly?

Paris to Florence is 1h 40m flight.
