Milan - Duomo question

Hi, all.

In doing my due diligence to purchase Duomo tickets in advance, it appears that March 24, 2019 only has "Museum" tickets. Does this limit you to just the museum, or is the interior of the Duomo included?

Can a ticket be easily purchased the day of?

I had the option to select the Duomo ticket with elevator rides to the roof, however, due to an error on their web page, I had to start over and now only see one option. I'm wondering if there was a mass purchase of tickets for that day? I missed out on The Last Supper tickets, too.

When we went to Milan, several months before we left, the website for the Last Supper said there were no tickets available. However, when I called I was able to get a pair. Try the phone. It will take patience as it is hard to get through. You think you have but the English connection then fails. Just try again.

As far as the Last Supper tickets, keep checking daily. It seems that some days they release extra Ickes or someone cancels or soemthing. Not sure. Also check the day of. When we were there a few people walked right up and bought tickets for that day.

The Last Supper only allows a few people in at a time so it's understandable that tickets sell out months in advance. The duomo is huge and while there can be lines to buy tickets, and lines for the elevators to the roof (terraces) I really doubt the entire duomo is sold out three months in advance. So it's probably a web site glitch. There is one ticket for the cathedral itself, another for the roof and another for the museum. Can't remember if there is a combo ticket for all of them.

I went to the Duomo in Milan at the end of September 2018. I opted to buy the Fast Track ticket on the day of my visit that includes everything, including the lift to the Roof/Terrace. It was about €10 more than the regular all-inclusive ticket, but I thought it was definitely worth it for the time savings. Otherwise it was at least a 1 or 2 hour wait to get in.

Not sure what site you're using to pre-purchase tickets, the official site is https://www.duomomilano.it/en/

The "Duomo Pass" tickets include all the places - one is with the lift to the roof and the other is for the stairs. I suggest the lift, there are still stairs to deal with once you get up to the roof.

Enjoy, it is a wonderful thing to behold.

Yes, in fact, I just did that today. I went to the ticket office, and bought a ticket for the interior of the Duomo (includes St Charles' crypt) for 3 Euros. I had no online booking, and I wasn't even originally planning to go to the Duomo today.

Be warned, even though it's low season right now, the queues at the ticket building are long (took 15 minutes just to reach the machine). And exacerbating the overcrowding in the ticket building, the Duomo gift shop is in the same room.

We will be in Milan the last week of March. I have been trying to purchase tickets to The Last Supper but Iam getting very confused by the various websites. What site did you use to get tickets??
And any "Must See" sites while we are there?
Thank you!

David,

If you can't obtain tickets for The Last Supper on the official website: cenacolovinciano.vivaticket.it

You can call them directly at ( 011) 39 02 92800360, or you can go there upon arrival, and see if they have tickets available.

When I was retrieving my Last Supper ticket (last May), there was a couple in front of me who were able to get tickets for that afternoon.

[For future reference only: Leonardo da Vinci's 'Last Supper' tickets sell out very quickly, and must be booked 3 months in advance]

Enjoy your trip!

Most of these types of tourist attractions seem to hold some tickets for the day of. Definitely don't miss the Duomo rooftop. It's a highlight. We'd not bought tickets ahead, but were directed to go around the back of the Duomo to the ticket booth for the elevator and it was a short line even on a busy day.
