Milan - Duomo Lift Access Tickets

I am looking to buy Duomo Milan lift access fast-track tickets from the Duomo official website. I also read reviews on multiple sites and have a few questions. Please help!

  1. On the Duomo Milan website they list the following on the page for buying tickets "Remember that tickets are valid for 3 days from the date chosen for your visit. It is not possible to bring forward the date of your visit once you have selected the day. ". Does this mean that I'm not bound to the date the ticket is purchased for? For example, if I buy the ticket for 5pm slot on Sep 7 and do not make it, I can still show up on Sep 8th? I am coming into Milan via train on the same day I am planning to visit Duomo, so looking to see if I have this flexibility in case train is delayed.

  2. I read a couple of reviews where folks bought the lift access tickets and went up to the roof in a lift but on the way down the guard said that they couldn't take the lift and were made to take the stairs. Is this the norm? Are we not allowed to take the lift on the way down?

  3. Is the renovation work on the roof still going on? Does it affect what we can see and the general rooftop experience?

Thank a bunch!
