Milan Day Trip???

Hello,
Is a day trip from Milan doable from Florence? My travel partner wants to see the Last Supper... has anyone ever done the day trip or would a day trip from Venice make more sense? any thoughts? or traveling from Florence... to milan to see the last supper then moving on to Venice? would that be possible? Thanks for any advice

Cynthia, all combinations are possible (I've never done any of these cities as a daytrip, but I've traveled between all of them). There's more to see in Milano than just the Last Supper (the Duomo, plus the elevator to the roof; some excellent museums). If you want to leave Florence and stop in Milano on your way to Venice, you can leave your luggage at the station in Milano while you visit. Note of caution: the piazza outside the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where Leonardo's Last Supper is, usually has a few people asking you (very sweetly) to sign a petition for something and then asking you for a donation (they will suggest about 20 euro). There is a direct train from Milano to Venice (make sure you go to Venice Santa Lucia, not Mestre), about 2.5 hours and 47 euro, and vice versa if you decide to do a daytrip to Milano from Venice. There's also a direct train from Florence to Venice (make sure you leave from Florence SMN to Venice Santa Lucia), about 39 euro as a base fare, 3 hours.

Make sure you reserve a time on line for the "Last Supper". The times gets sucked up very quickly by tour companies, and you may half to reserve through them to see it on the day you want.
