We will be flying into Milan on the 15th of June. We would like to head to Lake Como for 2-3 days before arriving in Venice about the 19th or 20th---all by train. Suggestions for places to stay on the Lake and in Venice and things to do would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have a budget in mind? I love the Hotel Danieli in Venice, but it's admittedly a bit of a splurge.
If you can stay one night, though, it's well worth the fantastic location (right on the Grand Canal and just a few buildings down from S. Marco) and the gorgeous interior decor.

Hi Judy. I also loved Albergo Milano in Varenna/Lake Como. Do splurge & get a lakefront room with a view. It's so wonderful to wake up in the morning and walk out onto the balcony & enjoy the view & the sounds of the birds, church bells, etc. We didn't get to have dinner there but they also offer a wonderful dinner out on the terrace if weather permits.
