Milan - City Tours

We have very limited time in Milan during our time there in September and would prefer to take a city tour which would take us to all the sites in less time than we could independently. Can anyone recommend a company? Zaniviaggi
has been recommended but I wonder if there are any others.
Thanks for your help.

I don't know about a tour company but most of the things you'll want to see are all centrally located.

I took the metro to the doumo and walked everywhere from there. I spent a half a day there and it was more than enough for me.

Great!

We will be in Milan for 2 nights and were hoping to see as much as we could. We did book The Last Supper, but I'm assuming that will not take very long.

I will be there for 2 and a half days and arrive on
Sunday - 09/21/08 - in the afternoon. Then on Monday we intend to spend all day in the Lake Region - Varenna and Bellagio and perhaps other stops. But on Tuesday we want to do some shopping and also see the main attractions of the city so a tour would cover a lot more than we could independently.I have checked with a few tour companies as recommended by my hotel but we are still working on our itineraries and may not make a decision until we arrive in Milan

I just returned from Milan about three days ago. We were unable to get tickets to see "The Last Supper" directly from the church, so, in order to see it, we resorted to going on a three hour morning tour of Milan, which included "The Last Supper". I bought the tour offered by Autostradale, with low expectations. We were pleasantly surprised! Yes, the major sights in Milan are all clustered together in the main square: The Duomo (be sure to go up on the roof); The Galeria Vittorio Emanuel (overpriced but gorgeous original mall; and La Scala, which are he highlights of the tour. Bur, surprisingly, the fellow who narrated, Stefano, was interesting, informative, and full of interesting little tidbits. He was especially good at "The Last Supper" offering information about art history, technique, and symbolism. Adter lunch, we went back and walked through the Duomo more slowly, and of course the roof....it is a must.

Thanks, Jane. Your information is helpful. The tour I wanted was at 2:30 pm and but I prefer a morning one which would leave our afternoon free so I think we will go with Autostradale. I like doing the city tours with a guide because like you say they are always full of information and tidbits you might not have known. Its nice not having to read your tour book and look at things all at the same time, and you can just listen to the information from the tourguide (my preference anyway)
Thank you very much for your input and everyone else too.

I am going to Milan this November. I booked the Last Supper Tour, but that's the only tour I'm planning on going on. However, I may get a ticket for the "Hop On Hop Off" bus. I did that in Berlin and I just loved it, and I want to use this bus again in Milan.
That bus runs every 15 minutes and stops in front of the attractions. This way you avoid getting lost. No time to get lost when staying such a short time!
Happy Travels!!
