We are planning on renting a car in Verona, travelling for ten days and dropping off the rental car in or near Milan, then stay in Navigli and exploring Milan for a few days before heading home. Any suggestions where would be the best place to drop off the rental car?

I rented and dropped off at Malpensa airport but it's 45 minutes from downtown Milan. There is also smaller Linate airport much closer to city center. You could also skip the car, since there are frequent trains from Verona to Milan and surrounding cities like Bergamo, Sirmione, etc.
