Milan Bergamo to Cinque Terre

Greetings all! Just booked my flight into Milan Bergamo with the intention of taking the train to Cinque Terre and just realized this airport is actually 60 min. away from Milan. whoops. So my question is: would it be better to take a bus or train to Milan and head to Cinque Terre from there, or does anyone know of a train that would bypass Milan and onto to Cinque Terre? (Or Genoa?) Basically, we don't NEED to see Milan, but if we have to go through there anyway, then we will...And if we do need to go through Milan, any rec's for a cheap hotel near the train station would be most welcomed! Cheers, Liz

Liz, I believe there are two fairly easy choices.... > Take the ATB Shuttle from the airport to Bergamo rail station (~€2, about 15 minutes AFAIK). From there travel by train to the Cinque Terre. Depending on which train you manage to connect with, the trip will be about 4-hours with perhaps two or three changes. > Take the Shuttle from the airport to Milano Centrale (there may be two firms providing that service). Travel time is about 1-hour and fare ~€9. The trip by train from there to the Cinque Terre is about 3-hours if you can manage to connect with a direct train (no changes). IMO, I wouldn't bother stopping in Milan. Happy travels!
