I am arriving in Milan Italy at 2:30 in the afternoon from the US and have a car service picking me up. My question is...they told me to book the time I want pickup not my arrival time. How long we I need to go thru customs and pickup luggage?

Unfortunately that is a 64 dollar question with lots of variables. If you are only going through customs does that mean you went through immigration somewhere else in Europe? If that is the case, then customs is strictly a walk through the Green door. Assume your plane is on time, I would book it for 45 minutes after arrival. If however, you coming directly from the US and need to go through immigration, then I would plan at least an hour, perhaps an hour and half to just to give you extra time should plane be delayed or immigration is slow.

This is a little odd. I't assumed you have a number to call when in the terminal. Where are you going by the way?

That is really odd. I've always had them ask me what airline and flight number, then they monitor it for late arrival, but that's been in Rome.

Is there a penalty if you guess wrong and are later than planned? If so, I would be looking for a different vendor.
Where are you going? Might a taxi work?
