Milan and Lake Como

We will be staying in Interlaken, Switzerland in August and would like to take a train to Milan or Lake Como. Any hotel suggestions? I am travelling with my husband and four kids (19, 15, 13, 9). Thank you.

Catherine, Could you elaborate a bit? How many days are you planning to stay in Milan or Lake Como, and where are you travelling after that? Of the two locations, Lago di Como (and specifically the town of Varenna) would be my preference, however I'm not sure how interesting it would be for your children. It's a great place to relax, and you could tour other locations on the lake (ie: Bellagio). At this late date, you may have difficulty getting accommodations for a group of six, but that will depend on which place you choose. Happy travels!

The earlier poster asked for more info concerning how many days in each location and that is important. As for Milano, we really like the place and always have. We routinely stay at the Hotel Berna on Via Napo Torriano, located 400 meters from Stazione Centrale. It is a 4 star property and serves the best breakfast in the city. You might consider surfing venere.com and tripadvisor.com for hotel info. Each site provides hotel choices, categories, pricing, map locations, and client reviews. Buon viaggio,

Do you plan to stay in Milan for the night too? As you are a big family i would suggest you to stay in safe budget accomodation well served by public transit . Me and my boyfriend stayed last year at Ostello La Cordata - http://www.ostellolacordata.com, and it seems the type of accommodation that could be the best for you and your family! You can get meals in their restaurant for less than other places in Milan...
As for Como Lake.. i would stay in Bellagio...much more interesting for me than Como city center.
