Milan airports and luggage storage

Hi! So we are planning a trip to Italy in March. We plan on flying into Milan (usually a good deal!) then staying in Venice and Modena, with the last night in Milan. I noticed there are 3 airports in Milan that come up in searches, right now about the same price, but I was wondering what the differences are? Is one easier to catch the train to Venice? Are there generally price differences? Which one would be the best?
Also we were wondering if there are luggage storage places in Venice or Modena. We normally stay in airbnbs so we are worried about getting there too early and not having anywhere to go. Thoughts on this? Can anyone recommend just a bed and breakfast type place in Venice and Modena where they would let you drop off your bags?
Just trying to get the logistics down first! Any advice is appreciated. 😀

Where are you flying from? It makes a difference.

But if you want to go directly to Venice, why not fly into Venice and then out from Milan? With multi-city fares being close to roundtrip fares, it would save you a half-day of backtracking.

If you fly directly from overseas to Milan, you will land at Malpensa (MXP). It is a 45-60 minute train ride away from Milano Centrale train station with onward connections to Venice & Modena.
If you connect somewhere in Europe and find a flight that lands at Linate (LIN), then it is a better choice because it is much closer to Milano Centrale.
The third airport that comes up is actually in Bergamo and is used by low-cost airlines.

By train, MXP is 50 minutes away from Milano Centrale. The tracks used by the airport trains and those used by the trains to Venice are less than 10 minutes away.

LIN (aka Linate) is served only by buses and cabs. Travel time to Milano Centrale is between 15 and 35 minutes, depending on traffic. Cabs and buses stop outside the 3 storey station. Pack light.

BGY is a low-cost airport close to the lovely hill-top town of... Bergamo, in the Province of... Bergamo! Search for it on Google Maps, it's not far from Venice but I doubt high speed trains from Milan to Venice stop at Bergamo station.

There are lots of luggage storage places in Venice. I was quite satisfied with a small luggage storage company - don't remember the name - quite near the train station. Exit the station, turn left down the main walking street, it is within half a block or so on your left. If you google "luggage storage in Venice" you'll come up with quite a few options, including how to do it at the train station.

Thanks for the info! We are coming from Dallas, Texas, so sounds like malpensa is where we would want to fly into, the other 2 might be ok for coming back home. Honestly, if I can find the right price on flights to Venice, I would snatch those up! That would solve all this!

rrphotogirl, not to belabor this, but what you should be looking at is "multi-city" flight options (aka open-jaw), not two one-way fares. All the airline and third party websites have an option for multi-city (DFW>VCE: MXP>DFW) that will be close to a roundtrip fare, taking into account the cost of trains to get to Venice. A lot of people dont know that you can book a single ticket this way, instead of pricing two one-way fares.

The point of the other posts was that flying in to out of the other two Milan airports involves more connections and longer times. MXP is the one with direct flight options to/from the US.
