We arrive at Malpensa very early am on 17 May and are going straight to Vernazza by train. Is the best plan to take the train from Milan Central train station to La Spezia and if so, what is the best way to get to that station from Malpenza? Also what is the best way to get from the Pisa train station to the Pisa airport to pick up a rental car? Answer quick - thanks!!!

The only direct way from Malpensa to the Central Station is the bus. Cheap at 5.50 Euros. But it takes FOREVER driving through the streets of Milan. We barely made our train.
If we were to do it again, we would take the train to the Caldorna station (see the guidebook) then the redline subway a few stops to Caldorna.
To buy a subway ticket, go to the newsstand, OR at an automatic station push OK, and OK, and then put in a one euro coin. Your ticket will appear 20 seconds later.
You can reserve your train on the trenitalia web site BUT you must notify (call) your credit card company. They are refusing all Italian transportation charges due to fraud.
