Milan airport to Milan

What is the best way to get from the Milan Malpensa Airport to the Milan Centrale train station (it's very close to my hotel)

You can take the Malpensa Express train from Malpensa to Milano Centrale (runs every 30 minutes, and travel time is around 1 hour)
You can buy your tickets at the airport train ticket counter or from a self serve machine. The ticket costs €13 pp.

Make sure you go to the correct platform as there’s a Malpensa Express train that travels to Milano Cadorna station.

Don’t forget to validate (date/time) stamp your ticket(s) prior to boarding the train, otherwise you may get fined by the train ticket inspector!

Enjoy your trip!

I would take the train, but you may want to know that there are two alternatives.

You can take a bus. These are run by several companies; note that they do not cross-honor each other's tickets, so be sure to find out which one is leaving first before you buy a ticket. A ticket costs €8.

You can take a taxi. This has a fixed rate of €95.

We did the bus when going through MXP. It was ( then) right outside the door and takes about an hour ( published travel time is 50 minutes) to Milan Centrale.

Bus staff put luggage into the belly of the bus and unloaded it at the other end. No wrestling bags onto/off a train.

At 5 euro less than train, I found the bus my best choice

Your choice

I took a bus years ago from MXP to Milano Centrale before the direct train was running. Our bus got stuck in rush hour traffic, and I got motion sick from all of the bobbing and weaving - personally, I dislike buses and am always sorry afterward when choosing a bus when a train was a viable option. I took the train the opposite direction to MXP a few years later when it was then operating and would certainly take the train either direction in the future - personal preference, just because I don't care for buses.

For years we used the Milan Shuttle bus and were happy with the service. It is closer than the train and, therefore, easier access. You can buy tickets inside the air terminal or outside from the bus driver. Just make sure you board the bus for Stazione Centrale.

Buon viaggio,

Take the train. Smooth and quick. You can download the Trenord app on your phone and buy tickets that way. Easy as pie, as Americans used to say.
