midrange accommodated. in Trastevere

We have four nights in Rome, and we keep hearing about Trastevere. Does anyone have a recommendation for a clean, quiet place, convenient to metro or bus for two senior in good shape?

My husband & I stayed at Hotel Trastevere in 2016. We thought it was nice, but nothing special. However, we don't usually go for luxury, usually only in the room for brief times during the days and for sleeping. The hotel had a good breakfast with made to order cappuccino. We really liked the neighborhood because it was not touristy. We enjoyed walking around it at night. The restaurant, Marco G's, was excellent! If you like craft beer, Fud & Bir is a great place.

In addition to the previous post: Prior to the trip we printed Rick's map of the Trastevere Walk, which was very helpful in getting around the area. We didn't download the audio tour, but I'm sure that would be helpful, also.

Look at a site such as Bed & Blessings or Monastery Stays. I have stayed in religious houses all over Italy, either convents or monasteries. They are run like B&B's . You get a private room with bath at a centrally located place in the town. Almost all serve a breakfast. Very affordable, for the most part, though I have seen some raise their prices. Really, like 70 euro a night, including breakfast. Do watch for the fact that the convents may have a curfew, usually about 10:00 or 11:00 pm. Then you are locked out. Both of those sites I mentioned are booking sites, and they charge additional fees. You could look at them for locations then contact the places directly by email and book direct, which will save you money. Depends on how much you need a standard hotels' amenities. I have never had a bad experience traveling this way.
There are several to choose from in Trastevere

We loved Hotel Santa Maria Trastevere, https://www.hotelsantamariatrastevere.it. It's well-located for restaurants, walking ands/or public transportation, just a few blocks from the tram/bus stops. Rooms are basic but quite nice - and quiet, as the hotel has a wonderful courtyard where you can breakfast (one of the best we had in Italy) and a large wall separating it from the street. Staff are lovely - excellent English and very helpful. Highly recommended,.
