Mid-trip itinerary change - recs?

Hi folks,
I'm in the middle of a 2 week trip to Italy. So far, I've spent 2 days in Rome, 2 in Siena, and 3 in Florence. I spend another day in Florence before heading to Emilia-Romagna on Sunday for 3 days.

The initial plan was to return to Rome for 4 nights before heading home on April 23. But despite its amazing history, Rome just hasn't quite "grabbed" me the same way cities like London, Paris, or Madrid have. The thought of spending a further 4 nights there seems underwhelming (I absolutely have loved my time in Tuscany btw). Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where I could go if I decided to split my remaining time in Rome by half. Milan? Naples? Just bearing in mind I'd be leaving Bologna on Wednesday and heading home on Sunday. Yes, perhaps Rome deserves a further 3.5 days, but I'm just not feeling it somehow...

How about Venice? Spend the last night (at least) in Rome or near the airport - you don't want to travel far for your flight. Maybe next time Rome will 'grab' you. Honestly, it took me a couple of times but now I can't get enough of Rome! Venice is completely different in so many ways - maybe that will 'grab' you.

Venice is unique, do not miss. If you liked Tuscany, you will also enjoy Umbria. We loved staying in Spello,

If you're not really getting Rome at the moment, this may not be the trip to tackle Naples, which generally feels more hectic.

Orvieto is very nice, with its pretty medieval district on the hill and quite a lot of good sights; you don't feel like you're just vegging out if you go there.

Emilia-Romagna's worth more than three days; Ravenna is a minimum of one full day, and two days isn't too long.

I love Venice but am not a fan of quick trips to that city since they don't give you much time for the less touristy areas.

Thanks for the suggestions. I spent 3 days in Venice last year (loved it btw) so would be interested in seeing something different this time. I found it interesting that on the train from Rome to Florence, you literally pass right by Orvieto - I was intrigued and it can be done as a day trip.

Yes, it would seem odd that I would choose Naples as a place to visit if I'm not getting the feel for Rome...but, I'll have to see. Thanks for the suggestions!

If you're looking for a smaller town, I enjoyed Orvieto!

I think Orvieto is a special place. There's a city sightseeing card that was good value in 2015, but I wasn't trying to see everything in 24 or 36 hours.
