I'm trying to book a train from Venice to Monterosso on Aug 7. The options are limited (morning trains have 3 stops + long duration). I have seen some postings about semi-annual schedule updates in June and Dec. but details of the updates aren't really clear. Can I expect more trains to become available at that time? Not sure if it's safe to wait another month.
Schedule will be updated by 6/11
There will be plenty of trains
If trains are not offered now then nobody can book so nothing to worry about
There will be fast trains Venice to Florence
Then it’s a regional which can’t sell out and price never changes
Are you looking at the official Trenitalia site?
You can check same day of week on a date before 6/11 to see what’s offered
Schedule won’t change much if at all
The schedules are up for the Tuesday before your travel date, so wait until June and more trains should show up. Right now they don't have any of the Freccia trains scheduled yet for your travel date.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting updates as well. I’m travelling on 8/7 but from napoli centrale to roma..I messaged trenitalia and they responded same as others have been indicating..the full summer schedule will be updated by 6/11 but to check in the next few days and the updates may appear sooner as they are updating progressively up until the deadline.
Im traveling from monterosso to venice in July. You can do the same in reverse. Book a train on a Italo train from venice to milan. I just checked and the schedule is up to Aug 6th so wait a bit and your day should be soon. The italo train time is 7:57-10:25
then trenitalia, milan to monterosso 12:10-3:05 both have no changes. Hope this helps
@markinglacebay even if I often travel with Italo I wonder what's the benefit of having a non protected connection in Milan.
There are direct IC trains from Milano Centrale to Monterosso with reserved seats departing at 6:10, 8:05, 12:10, 14:05, 16:05 and so on. But if the Italo's train from Venice is late, Trenitalia has no obligation to put you on a later IC train for free.
