Mid April to Mid May Month in Sorrento and Cinque Terre with kids (11, 11, 12)- looking for ideas

My wife and I are excited spend a month on our dream vacation as a family in Italy. We are from Montana so we are used to hiking and the outdoors and our kids are active.

Sorrento
We plan to hike Path of the God's and spend a day or two on the Amalfi Coast hiking and exploring and a day in Capri. Maybe a day trip to Pompei. Any other suggestions for things to do from Sorrento?

Levanto
Will stop in Pisa on the train from Sorrento. We plan to hike as many of the sections of cinque terre that are open. We will rent bikes one day and drive north from Levanto on them. Maybe a day trip to Portofino. We are adventurous and willing to spend time on trains or buses. We don't have any plans to be in the interior of Italy and I'd love to plan a day trip or two to let the kids get a feel for that part of Italy.

Would really welcome input and ideas!
Thanks

We travel with our three kids and are outdoorsy too. Florence was an easy city to navigate and interesting to the kids. They loved the Duomo - both the painting and going up to the viewing deck, which offers a great panorama view of the city. They loved David. And the Mercato, where we ate lunch. They did not love the Uffizi, which is why Im not recommending it ;)

We hiked all the trails in the Cinque Terre. Easy. There is a rock in Manarola, down in the harbor area, that you can jump off. One day we trained to Riomaggiore, then hiked up and over the hill to Manarola (because the coast trail is closed) and swam/cliff jumped in Manarola for awhile before training back to Monterosso where we were staying. Another day, we hiked from Monterosso to Vernazza, ate lunch, and then hiked on to Corniglia and trained back to MR from there. Pisa was fun but just for the tower, otherwise they liked Florence more.

Also, water shoes were very useful. Check the beaches you will visit - many are small rocks rather than sand. I have tough feet and it was painful. We bought cheap water shoes from amazon for 10/ea and were glad to have them

There are dozens if not more hiking paths on the Sorrentine and Amalfi coasts, and two books detail them all (one published by Ciceone and the other by Sunflower).
Perhaps some time in Naples? See the Napoli unplugged website for ideas. Definitely visit Pompeii! Ischia is another island option.
