Hi everyone,
A friend recommended Meta as a great place to stay for 5 days. He was there about 8 years ago. Just wondered if any one had has updated information on this village outside of Sorrento.
Thanks so much!
Nancy
I have only visited Meta di Sorrento to have a look around. It is not a bad place and like the other small towns along the road in to Sorrento has marvelous views over the Bay of Naples. The place feels/looks like a suburb of Sorrento but has an identifiable town centre. There are local buses, supposedly about every 20 minutes, to the centre of Sorrento. In the school holidays and weekends during warmer months can be a bit raucous during the day. It is very popular with young people from Naples and the towns around the Bay because it has the biggest (grey) sand beach in the area.
There is a station on the Circumvesuviana line so you would be able to visit Pompeii, Herculaneum etc. Also one of the bus routes from Sorrento over to the Amalfi Coast goes through Meta but I would think that your chances of being able to board the bus at that stage in its journey would be slim to none.
Why not take a "walk" around the place on Google Streetview to see for yourself?
