Mestre to Venice

I am having a bit of trouble trying to figure out how to get from Mestre to Venice if the train I am on ends there. I am trying to get a train that leaves at 4:40 pm out of Turin (and gets to Mestre around 8:20), as the next one doesn't leave until 6:00 pm and doesn't arrive at Santa Lucia station until 10:30. If I take the earlier train, does anyone have suggestions for how to get over to Venice? Or do I have to just go with the later train?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions- the trenitalia site has no info and I've put a lot of time into researching this with no luck!

Kelly, there is a shuttle train service that connects Mestre to Venice's train station (Santa Lucia) which is located on the Island of Venice. The Train service between the two stations runs several times per hour and only costs a euro or two.

Thanks Lane! I can't find that on Trenitalia for some reason- Steve those were the station names I was using and nothing was coming up. As long as I know they run that often though, that's all I need to know. No idea why the train I want doesn't just go all the way to the S.L. station. Thanks!

Me thinks there has been a recent overhaul in how the Italian Train system works. They seem to have gone to a hub system instead of the older point to point. We took the train directly from Milan to Venice in 2004. If the station is a terminal station, as in the line ends there, then you'll have to find the local shuttle train. Its the same deal for Florence now, you get off the LINE and take the shuttle train in, which was very confusing to us in 2009.
There is also a bus from Mestre to Venice. Can't find my Venice RS but I think its the #5.
