Purchased RS Guide to Italy. A bit surprised cant find Ravenna. Is it somewhere else.
I don’t think it’s ever been in a RS book.
Not every town is.
It will be in other books, perhaps Fodor’s, or LP?
Hello hcharles328, and welcome to the boards,
RS covers Ravenna in his Venice book - along with Verona, Vicenza and Padua/Padova - as "near Venice". It may also appear in other guides but you can check under "What's Included" descriptions.
Hope that helps,

There’s a bit about it on this website (https://www.ricksteves.com/europe/italy/ravenna), including a link to an RS article about it.
Google search "Basilica of San Vitale" in Ravenna. There are amazingly large and well preserved Byzantine mosaics there. It's well worth making the trip to Ravenna only for that. I don't know what's in the current Venice guide (mine is old and does not include it), but whatever is in the RS guides, it will only touch on this spectacular work of art.
We spent a day in Ravenna and saw the main sights. Hope this helps:

I spent two nights in Ravenna in April and enjoyed it. The mosaics are beautiful. Purposely went there to see them. Small town, easily walkable. Not packed with tourists.
