I would like to know if the restoration of this market in Lucca has been completed. I'm hoping it will be up and running by April 2023 and be similar to the Market Centrale in Florence for a good place to shop for produce, meats and specialties of the region.
Has anyone been there lately?

Hello jwdavidowski,
We dropped by randomly in September and it was sparsely populated but had a produce store, specialty and coffee stores. Some of the booths face both the interior of the market and the street and they were ones the ones that seemed permanently open.
It is great space and has potential but there were just a few tables inside and not much in the way of vendors.
I hope they get scheduled market day(s) set up and going because I'd like to see it thrive.

We were there in October and it was talked about but we didn't get the feeling it would happen any time soon, but we could be wrong.

I live in Lucca so pass by the old mercato everyday. Work is just beginning inside with major construction planned for Summer 2023.

Thanks for the update jobartram, hopefully it will become a "thing".
I think Lucca deserves a cool marketplace that will hopefully serve mostly locals that visitors can find too.
