Memorial at Punta Bianca, Ameglia

We will be staying in Riomaggiore in the Cinque Terre the second week of November. Has anyone been to the Italian-American Memorial in Ameglia? If so, is it possible to make a day trip to Ameglia from the Cinque Terre to honor these men? This is an incredible and sad story resulting from WWII. http://www.apathtolunch.com/2012/04/liberation-day-ameglia-executions.html

Hello Ernest.when I was living in Florence my first 28 years of my life I used to vacation at the seaside in that area. I have been on the cliffs of punts Bianca many times and also to the town of Ameglia perched on top of the hill, although never at the memorial. By Vespa it would take me less than half hour from Ameglia to Riomaggiore. You have to drive through la spezia. If you don't have your own wheels, you'd probably have to take the train from Riomaggiore to Spezia (just minutes) and I'm sure there are buses to Ameglia or lerici or even bocca di magra. The memorial at punta bianca is a little outside of Ameglia, and bocca di magra. so you might need a taxi from Ameglia or bocca di magra or even lerici. Lerici is a little farther from punta bianca, but I'm sure there are plenty of buses from la Spezia station to Lerici. If you have your own wheels it's a breeze to get there.
