Meeting Place In Venice

In May I will be staying at Pensione Guerrato. It is located near the fish and vegetable market and not far from the Rialto bridge. Can anyone suggest somewhere in the vicinity to prearrange a meeting place with others for a drink?

Pensione Guerrato's employees are all fantastically nice and helpful in answering questions such as this. All you have to do is ask them.

Andrea,
Meet everyone at the Pensione Gueratto and follow Tim's advice. There are literally 20 eateries / drinkeries (new word) within a 2 block radius of the hotel.
Enjoy,
Gene

Thanks Tim and Gene. It sounds like the best way would be to wait until I arrive. I can email the person I'm meeting with the place I choose. She won't be arriving until the day I'm leaving. I plan to store my luggage at the hotel, meet for drinks, then take the train to Verona.

or at the entrance to the Rialto Mercato vaporetto dock. It is all of about 30 seconds from the hotel, and what a fab hotel it is.

Agree with Nigel about meeting at the Rialto Mercato vaporetto dock because it is very hard to "not find". Be sure to tell your friend to take Vaporetto # 1 (the "slow" boat that stops at every stop - not all stop at Mercato) to the Rialto Mercato stop. Coming from P. Roma it will be on the "right" side of the canal and is the stop after Ca' d Oro. Coming from the other direction it will be on the left just after passing under the bridge.

Great suggestion to meet at the vaparetto stop. After I arrive I can find a good place for us to get together once they arrive. I will direct her to this thread to see how to find the stop.

Nigel, agree it is a great place to stay. This time I'm on the 4th floor. Ugh... I guess it will be a good way to work off the gelato.

Can't wait to see you Darcy!!

Thanks all for the great suggestions! Andrea, I was planning for us to drop our bags then walk to Rialto so we can stretch our legs after the flight. Meeting at the Mercato vaporetto stop would be fine though or even at Pensione Guerrato if you prefer. I could text you when we land and then when we're leaving our hotel.

Or do you think that would take too much time and you'd prefer that we just leave our bags at Guerrato too? I suspect that would save about 1/2 an hour so that would certainly be good although I don't want to have any grumpy travel partners and walking to Guerrato after our flight might alleviate that!
