Meeting place at Venice airport for group....next week!

I can't believe our trip is finally here....next Saturday our group flies into Venice from different areas of the country. Does anyone know a good meeting place at.or outside, the airport that we could meet to take the bus or water taxi or whatever to downtown Venice? THANKS!

It's not that big an airport. Just arrange to meet at the ACTV bus stop and go to Venice from there.

If you want to meet inside, meet at the place where you buy tickets for the bus and water taxi. As Doug says, it's a small terminal. You'll find each other quickly no matter what.

The water taxi will cost you 100-120Euro. It's a shared cost for up to 6-8 people with luggage. Depending on the size of your group, you might find this attractive. The water taxi will take you close to your hotel. The ACTV bus costs 3Euro and will take you to the Piazzale Roma where you can catch the vaporetto.

Please don't confuse the water taxi with the water bus. The water taxi is mentioned above. The water bus is the vaporetto and is the method of public transportation on the Venice canals. The vaporettos do not go to the airport.

So,Larry, I want to be sure I understand correctly.... we (9 of us) will have to take the bus to the water bus (vaporetto) station. OR we can get the water TAXI (which is much quicker?) at the airport without taking the bus.

Thanks so much for all the info. None of us have ever been to Italy....yipe! kinda scary trying to figure all of this out.

Kathie, you have it correct. If you take the ACTV or ATVO buses (2 different companies), they both will take you to the Piazzale Roma where you most likely would need to change to a vaporetto to get to your hotel. The whole process introduces you to the culture of Venice.

Yes you can take the water taxi and avoid the bus and vaporetto. Yes, it is much faster. However, you have identified a group of 9. Water taxis are not that large. You may have to take 2. I don't think that you can get 9 people with luggage into one. You could certainly try. If you can, it's a bargain. If you need two taxis, you might consider walking back to the bus stop and using the bus/vaporetto. Much less expensive.
