Hi everyone. I wonder if anyone have done a meet and greet at Rome train station to their hotel and if you can recommend any company. As we don't have a train ticket yet until we get to Sorrento can we book the meet and greet a few days before we leave. We will be in Sorrento on 5th July 2017 and will book our train tickets then. Also am I allowed to post if anyone would like to share a cab from Sorrento to Naples train station or should I create a new topic for that. Thank you so much
Rocky, why not just grab a cab when you get to Rome?
Kathy I thought of that but didn't want to get lost at the stationππ I'm just toying with the meet and greet idea re taxi
In a couple weeks we'll be staying at an apartment in Rome, which is run by folks who also have a hotel, and they have a service that will pick us up at the Fiumicino airport and take us to our apartment. Not cheap at 50 Euro, but I'm told taxis from there to the Historic Center run about that amount.
That service is also driving us to Roma Termini train station when we leave, and they said it would cost about 15 Euro.
Are you flying into Rome then going to your hotel? If so, consider a taxi. Flat rate 48 euros, if you're staying in the historic center (which you should be). If you're taking the train into Rome from some other city, just get a taxi from the official queue in front of the train station. You can't miss it, as it's out the front exit. (The train station is much simpler than the airport.)
Here's a link to a 360 degree view of the inside of main entrance/exit to the train station. See the sign that says "Taxi"?

And why would you take a taxi from Sorrento to Naples when you can take the Circumvesuviana? One other, more scenic, option from Sorrento to Naples is the ferry. Then you would catch a cab from the Naples port to the Naples train station.

This is what I was thinking too. It's not difficult to find the front exit. And taking the Circumvesuviana to Naples isn't difficult either, and a LOT cheaper than a private transfer.
Rocky,
If you have a generous travel budget, a "meet & greet" would be a nice touch but it's certainly not necessary. There are lots of Taxis in the rank right outside Termini station, and they will likely be considerably cheaper. Where is your hotel located?
For the trip from Sorrento to Naples, a Taxi is one option, but it will be cheaper and faster to use the Campania Express. You could also use the somewhat "colourful" Circumvesuviana, although the Express will be much more comfortable.
Like other main stations, Termini has its own site with maps and other useful information.
Trains arrive and depart from the Platform level.
Thank you Kathy, jay darioalb Michael and Ken. I am more aware of what to do at Rome train station now from all your advise. Ken, as always, appreciate your input. The Campania Express it is then from Sorrento to Naples and the fast train to Rome and taxi to our hotel. Hotel Relais Fontana Di Trevi, via del Lavatore, 44, 00187. Roma
We use romashuttle.com for transit to our hotel. They meet you just outside of customs holding a sign with your name on it. They cost the same as a taxi and deliver you to the front door.

Right. I'd also suggested this train in one of your earlier posts, Rocky.
Thank you Kathy and rb, we will decide on our options as we do more planning. Actually all seem OK. Just got t find out routes/ how to get to our hotel in Venice after we drop off the car. But will create another topic on that. Thank you allπ
You're going to be just fine, and you're going to LOVE bella Italia! π
Go to you tube there are hundreds of videos on Roma Termini that will help you familiarize yourself to the place. It's basically just one huge room at the end of the tracks.
Good luck and have an adventure.
Thank you Kathy and jkc and everyone. I will watch you tube and I am getting braver. Lol. 4 months before we leave and counting down....
