My wife and I love to travel however I am 100% disabled from wounds received from combat in Vietnam. I function very normal however I take oxycodone every 6 hours for pain, I was hit over 60 times by shrapnel to both lower legs. American pharmacies will only give me enough pills for 28 days. We want to travel for over 30 days. How can I refill a narcotic prescription in Italy? Thank you for any advice. Darrell
I know this is a serious issue for you. In the past when I was going to be in Italy over the 30 day prescription, my pharmacist gave me the extra pills which were then credited to the next month's allotment. Of course, she knew me well. Maybe show the pharmacist airline tickets as evidence of your schedule? Call your doctor and get a 90 day refill? Call your insurance provider and talk to someone above the person who answers the phone?
Rules are different for narcotics.
You would need to get a local doctor to write you a prescription. Especially for a narcotic.
Your best bet is to talk to your doctor to see if he can do something. And your insurance provider.
Your doctor can arrange extra pills. The result would be picking up your next prescription a couple of days later. I know this as someone in a similar situation.
I honor your service and regret you are suffering.
