Medical Insurance

We buy Geo Blue health insurance for international travel. Affiliated with Blue Shield, but you aren't required to have Blue Shield insurance. We haven't filed a claim, so can't tell you how well that it actually works.

I recommend you go to one of the websites where you can compare policies. They would be "insuremytrip" or Squaremouth or there are others.

I'd recommend you think about what you want in a policy as well. I'm not usually so concerned about having hotels, etc covered but I do want medical insurance and med-evac insurance. I have been getting $500,000 worth of med-evac which is probably overkill but if I need to be transported back to Idaho in an air ambulance it's gonna cost that much.

My healthcare insurance does cover us in Europe. I suggest you contact your insurance company to verify what they cover.
