Am I allowed to sell my extra Colosseum Underground/Belvedere tour ticket?

I bought Colosseum Underground/Belvedere 90 minute tour tickets for Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from the official Coopculture website. For reasons explained below, I ended up with two tickets for the morning and two for the afternoon. I only needed a total of two tickets. I've tried contacted Coopculture a few times, but haven't gotten an answer. Their website says no refunds (even though I tried to return them the day I purchased them, which was the day they became available in late May). The tickets themselves (pdf files, one page each) do not have my name on them, but the confirmation email did. I'm not sure if the email is needed to get in. My questions:

  1. Does anyone know if I can sell my two extra tickets to a random stranger while in Rome? I'm sure I could find someone to actually buy the tickets, but want to be sure those people would be able to use them and would prefer to not have to show up just in case they can't (to refund their money).
  2. Does anyone know if a person needs to present the confirmation and/or identification, or are only the tickets needed to get it onto the tour?

Here's info on the horrible process I underwent to get the tickets, in case you are interested:
By mid-May, the Coopculture website said what day tickets would become available for sale. They went on sale at 7 am in my time zone. I was on my computer and my cell phone, ready to buy, at 7:00 am. It took 90 minutes before I could buy tickets, because the website kept crashing and was incredibly slow. My husband had the same issue and was not able to buy tickets before I finally had success. It looks like they put 7 tickets out for each time slot (every 20 minutes). A person can buy up to 6 tickets for each time slot. I only saw 7 tickets available for one time slot, once, over the three days I was looking for. The first time I could actually get the calendar to open, some time slots were sold out and all the rest of the time slots only had 1 ticket left (the 7 came up later). I really wanted early morning tickets, but they were sold out so I bought two for the afternoon (1:05 and 1:25; could not get two at the same time). The purchasing process was painful because although I bought the tour in English and website had been in English, it suddenly went to Italian. It also crashed during the process. Once I finally had two tickets, I left the website. 30 minutes later, I decided to check again to see if they were completely sold out. I saw that now 2 tickets were available in the early morning (not together; separated by 20 minutes). I bought them hoping I could return the two I'd bought earlier and if not, figuring I'd just eat the cost. It was worth it to me so I could do the early tour. Each ticket was 29 Euros.

According to the coopculture website, no, you can't sell your tickets or get a refund. From the webpage for this tour:

https://ecm.coopculture.it/index.php?option=com_snapp&view=event&id=49E975FB-0042-5AF5-1520-016224C20939&catalogid=B7ADDE29-0155-9558-2226-0167A84A3314&lang=en

Visitors with a booked fixed guided tour have to show a valid ID card at the ticket office.

The purchased tickets cannot be refund or rescheduled to a different date of visit and/or a different entrance time on the same day.

As these tours are in high demand, I'm very sure they ask for an ID to prevent scalping so no, just giving it away won't work either.

Kathy,
Thank you for the info. However, the info you post doesn't say I can't sell the ticket. I can't get a refund or change the time and an ID must be presented. However, the ticket doesn't have a name on it. Also, I was told by the officials at the sight they an ID is not actually needed. So the question remains...Can I sell the tickets?

All I'm going on is what the website states. Personally, I would assume that's the official word on the subject.

Also understand that there may be a difference between a general-entry ticket and a tour reservation. Again, because these tours are in such high demand, I can't imagine they would not check IDs against the reservation name to eliminate scalping.

Also, I was told by the officials at the sight they an ID is not
actually needed.

Above you said that, "I've tried contacted Coopculture a few times, but haven't gotten an answer." ????

Even though the name is not stamped on the ticket you can't be sure anyone will be allowed with the different ID. For example, RENFE tickets do not have names stamped on them, however when you book the ticket you fill in your personals details. I'm pretty sure it can be checked quite easily nowadays, if needed. I wouldn't buy the ticket from someone else either.

I think you will have to โ€œjust eat the cost.โ€ The terms and conditions that are linked to the shopping cart says:

1.2 The entrance pass must be purchased through sales channels operated by CoopCulture or by those authorised by CoopCulture for marketing thereof. If the customer/visitor ticket was purchased by other that those indicated above, or if the ticket was lost, stolen, duplicated or obtained not according to these regulations, the customer/visitor is not authorised to access the monument or event location, and he could be obliged to leave.

Maybe you could go twice ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Enjoy the planning and the trip!

Thanks Beth! The info you provide does make it clear that I can't sell my tickets. Very good to know.

Yes, we might go twice. We may also use our extra tickets to access the Forum and Palatine Hill twice, since each ticket allows for one entry to both, but we may want to leave and come back (not allowed under one ticket).
