We've signed up and booked our airfare and are just wondering about our first night there - before the official tour. We've looked at the hotel on the tour and can book the extra room there but there are several levels to pick from. Does the tour itself use the standard basic room? And if anyone has done this, does the hotel keep you in the same room or do you move for the tour? Thanks. Little questions but that's where we are!
I always follow the directions on the tour info to contact the hotel directly. Tell them you are on the tour and you would like to stay in the same room.
That's exactly what I do and have done for my Best of Sicily tour that starts on 10/22 (so excited, almost here!) I'm traveling solo and paid the single supplement so asked for the same room that I'll get on the tour and they confirmed I'll not have to move. I've always done that and never been asked to move.
Thanks for the feedback. I did contact the hotel directly as suggested via email. There are 4 room types and I asked to be in the same room I'll be in for the tour. The part that I'm a little confused about is that the hotel said to go ahead and book whatever room I want and they'd leave me in that room for the rest of our stay. Some of the rooms are more expensive than others but I was assuming the tour would probably be the cheapest room. Am I wrong on that? I'd appreciate your thoughts before I book! Thanks!!
The Ambasciatori, right? It's not a huge hotel. The room choices may not be much different since the RS tour takes up 12-15 rooms. When we were there, there was an overlap with the RS tour that was just prior to us so that probably filled the whole hotel.
Stan makes an interesting point.
I haven't run into the "choose whatever room you want" option when contacting a hotel, but rooms do vary on the tours, so it makes sense that the room prices might vary if you reserved out side the tour.
I guess I would choose whichever apeals in this case.
