Any advice for what to see in Florence on May 1, Italy's Labor Day? Unfortunately it appears that many of the top sites (Uffizi, Accademia, etc.) are closed that day for the holiday.

I doubt that you can do better than to follow the Michelin Green Book advice.

That would be a good day, then to see the Duomo, Santa Croce and other churches. Take a walk up to Piazza Michelangelo. Plenty to do, in fact!
