It looks almost impossible to get to pietrapertosa without a car. we will be in several places wherein pietrapertosa 'might' be accessible by tour or bus. We will be in salerno, matera and bari.
Anyone know of tours or transport from any of these to pietrapertosa?

You could always check with a tourist office about a private driver.
Rome to Rio shows some buses from Matera and Bari, but dig carefully (i.e., follow the links and confirm any results on the official bus websites, confirm schedule results in person)--they have led people astray before and you would not want to get stuck.
I think driving would be the best course--there are several places you could visit with a car in the area.

I believe that there is a bus that leaves from Potenza.
