Three of us are travelling from Matera to the Bari airport on May 26th to catch our 11:00AM flight to Catania. What are our options? Has anyone made this trip?
(1). Bla Bla Car, a rideshare operation similar to Uber travels there. (2) Four bus companies make the trip directly to the airport for €3-€6 making the bus your best bet. One bus on May 26 departs Matera at 7 am arriving at BRI at 8:15 am. Take a look at www.GetByBus.com for schedules and bookings. . And then there are taxis which cost more than €120 for the trip. Trains take 1:45 and there are none I found that fit well with your 11am flight out of Bari’s airport.
Hello josephmay39,
There is a good Matera travel page here: https://www.amoitaly.com/matera/access.html
The trip from Matera to Bari is about 1:45 by train (private not Trenitalia) and 1:15 or so by bus. You'll probably want to get to Bari Centrale train station because there is a 16 minute train from the station to the airport. Unless you can find a bus from Matera that specifically goes to the airport this - or maybe a taxi - is the best option.
Full disclosure I haven't made this transfer, but it seems doable. You would probably be taking an 8:00am bus to Bari train station and then the 16 minute transfer to the airport.
Have you considered staying in Bari the night before? Looking at the bus schedule it seems like if you miss the bus you will miss your flight and that not a position you may want to be in. If everything goes fine you should be at the airport more than a hour before your flight but there's not really any slack in that process.
A rideshare/taxi/private car transfer might called for here if you really want to stay in Matera, make your 11:00am flight in Bari and not stress the whole transfer process.
Hope that helps,

This bus goes direct to the airport: https://www.aeroportidipuglia.it/en/bus-pugliairbus-
I did not check for your date, but this would be the most direct and economical.
