Hello all,
I will be in Florence in a couple of weeks (mid-March) and am looking for recommendations on where to attend mass on a Sun morning. Does not need to be an English-speaking mass.
Due to my schedule, I was thinking of attending mass at the Duomo in Florence (Santa Maria del Fiore) so I can also see the inside. However, I am wondering if there is a better church to actually attend a mass at (San Lorenzo, San Croche, Santa Maria Novella, etc)
Thank you and advance for your recommendations and thoughts!
Lisa
I have no experience with mass at the other churches mentioned, but I can recommend mass at the Duomo. My sisters and I did a weekday mass and, while I was more lost than I'd hoped to be since it was in Italian, it was truly special to be there worshipping God, just as the space was intended to be used.
There are 3 masses at the Duomo on Sunday morning and one at noon. The one at 1030 is in Gregorian chant.

The only English mass there is on Saturday at 5:00 pm. The only other mass I've attended was at S. Miniato al Monte. They dont have an English mass.
Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it!!
I haven't done mass in Florence, but I was pleased with how welcome I felt doing mass in a smaller Italian city. (Thank goodness I packed a decent dress and sweater with sleeves!)
In my experience, each house of worship is unique. And each will offer its own benefits.
