Mass at Vatican

Do I need a ticket to attend Mass at the Vatican? Does the Pope read Mass each Sunday and can that Mass be attended?

Yes you need tickets, but they are free. If you go to papalaudience.org you can read about how to obtain the tickets. They also have a schedule you can check.

You need tickets (free) for the papal audience. I think that’s on Wednesday unless he is away.

Sunday mass is not ticketed, but it is not read by the pope. It’s done by a Vatican priest. You can just go - but you need to go through the security line at the church so plan on extra time to get in. There are a bunch of times

Not been to Mass on a Sunday, but weekdays, no ticket is needed ( at least not in 2014).

Mass is 'celebrated', not 'read'

These websites, vatican.va and papalaudience.org should give you the information you need.

I attended the Papal Mass at St. Peter's Basilica this morning celebrating World Day of Migrants and Refugees. My lodging gave me an orange ticket, my friend had a pink ticket, and I saw white tickets too, all went to different sections of the Church. Mass started at 10:00 AM, but you have to get there at 6 or 7 AM to get the better seats. I can say that 8:00 AM was already too late.
