I wasn’t on the Lake Como ferries but was on the Lake Maggiore ferries. While signs indicated masks were required, most people wore them for boarding the boat but virtually no one kept them on for the ride. There was no enforcement of the rule. I found this to be the case in general, in Italy. ITA required KN95 or similar masks for flights into Italy. But when people took them off and kept them off during the flight, nothing was said to them. I returned home from Italy last week and I see that cases are climbing so the situation may have changed.

Always have a mask ready to use, and then see what happens

We were there just a couple of days ago. They won’t let you on the ferry if you don’t have a mask on. Most people outside took them off.
