Martina Franca to Ostuni Parking specific question :)

We will be picking up our friend in Ostuni somewhere close to the train station. She is coming from Brindisi and us from Martina Franca. Anybody know which parking lot would be close to the train station and so we don’t have to navigate and get dinged for city parking charges? We will park and she can dump her luggage and we can stroll the town before continuing with our trip,

I know a specific question any help would be great.

I hope someone can give you a better answer than mine, but what I know is that the Ostuni train station is an 8 minute drive from the old center of Ostuni. My guess is that there is no ZTL around the train station.

One place we parked near old Ostuni center when we stayed there for a week was the Foro Boario Parcheggio lot. I would not leave my luggage in my car in this open lot, however --- look for a parking garage. If you want to find some, look at parking near Ostuni on Google Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/search/parking/@40.7351531,17.5695245,16z/data=!4m8!2m7!3m6!1sparking!2s72017+Ostuni,+BR,+Italy!3s0x1346435718d3ceb1:0x1c366a4ea72bfafa!4m2!1d17.5771782!2d40.7296828?entry=ttu

Thanks Nancy!
I know this is stupid, but I’m guessing we should get a bus in from the train station rather than trying to drive in there. What do you think? Sorry for such stupid questions.

Not stupid at all! At least, it's exactly the kind of thing I always try to pin down in advance --- my husband is more happy-go-lucky about logistics and he usually does just fine.

Somebody will give you advice about this train station --- we've never been there since we always have a car in Puglia. My guess is that you can drive from Martina Franca to the Ostuni train station and just park and wait for your friend. As far as I know, a ZTL is for keeping non-resident traffic down in the congested old parts of a town or city --- around the train station looks like it wouldn't be a protected area.

A ZTL is usually well marked and can be avoided. We've never had trouble staying out of them, although sometimes we've had to pull over and figure out the ones that list times of day the ZTL is in effect. I always figure just stay out!

It doubles your time to take the bus (I think train would be longer, but check schedules). You'll probably be used to driving around by the time your friend arrives if you have had the car prior. You should prepare yourself to read the parking signs, but otherwise it is just like parking in any other small town.
I would be slightly wary of storing luggage in the car (yes even in locked trunk). She could just store her bags, though yes it is a pain.
