Marriott properties in Rome or Florence

We will be using Marriott points for two free nights on ourItaly trip. Any feedback about Marriott properties in Rome or Florence? Would like something nice, close enough to walk around down town area- not the airport locations.

Meredith: Go to Mariott.com and put in Rome and Florence. Rome has a Courtyard and a Marriott that are at fair prices. They have one property over $300 per night.
Florence is not a Marriott city. I would suggest Booking.com, the largest accommodations website there is. Or, AirBnB.com for less expensive properties.

Marriott does not have a property in ancient Rome area. So look at a map carefully when booking for Rome.

Frank, are you saying the Marriott Grand Hotel Flora at the top of Via Vittorio Veneto is no longer a Marriott property? I had a great stay there once - so close to Piazza di Spagna for the Metro and a delightful walk through the Borghese Gardens to the museum. (Or maybe you mean there isn't one right exactly near the Colosseum and Forum?)

Rome's Ctyd by Marriott is near the Gemelli Hospital. Not near the city center.
They also have a marriott resort on the way to the airport. probably even farther away from the center. Florence AC Hotel is a Marriott property. It's next to the Leopolda Station and the new Opera House. It's very new. It's not far from the historical city center core, but it's a walk to most sights..

Really enjoyed the Marriott Hotel Flora a few years ago. Perfect location and a beautiful property. However, it is very hard to book using points. Keep checking online for availability. The Marriott Park Hotel is often available, however, it is not close to the city center.
