I've been told that there is a good market with good "ready-to-go" snacks somewhere quite near St Peters in Rome, but my friend cannot remember which direction it is in. Apparently she first found it in a Rick Steve's guidebook. However, we can't find it and we leave for Europe in 2 days. Can anyone give us a tip?
Hi Diane
I am not sure if this is what you are looking for, but there is a large food market on via Andrea Doria. It was located on the street with vendors selling produce, meat, fish, cheeses and breads from stalls. However, it has now moved into one central location in the unit block Andrea Doria. It is about a 10 - 15 minute walk from St. Peter's. closest Metro is either Cipro or Otravano. Hope this helps and is what you are looking for.
Hello again,
Thanks very much. We are not quite sure what we are looking for, but this sounds like a good place to try anyway.
Diane
Hi Diane,
Here's a link to the area that David was describing:
Rome Market
I also like some of the shops and restaurants on the pedestrian-only street Borgo Pio--a block from Piazza San Pietro.
