Does Orvieto still have a market on Saturdays? If so, what time does it usually start and end? I'll driving there from Montepulciano for the day to visit Orvieto on a Saturday mid May and didn't want to miss this. I heard they have a great one. Also, is there any place special we should consider stopping on the way back to Montepulciano? Any tips would be appreciated. (Note: we are based in Montepulciano and plan to visit Pienza, San Quirico, Montalcino, Cortona and Orvieto. Stopping in Civita di Bagnoregio on the way in. Thanks
Market on Sat. & Thurs. mornings. The hours are not set, typically in full flower from about 7:30 to 12:30. http://www.inorvieto.it/en/visit/suggestioni_alternative/the_piazza_del_popolo_market.html
Thanks for info on the market. Any tips on stops on way back?
We had a pleasant time looking around San Casciano dei Bagni and the old hill town Cetona when we were in the area. Below San Casciano we had a nice walk to see several of the thermal 'baths' - undeveloped pools of hot water. Very interesting stuff but it won't make your friends jealous. Citta della Pieve across the valley was also a surprisingly nice town to explore.
Thank you Mike. I'll check these places out.
