Family of four. Planning on taking a land taxi as I think it will be the same price as the bus but faster. Anyone know how close the land taxi can drop us off to central Cannaregio district? Our Airbnb is around a 5 minute walk from the train station.
A land taxi will drop you about five/ten minutes walk from the train station, at Piazale Roma. You will have to cross the detested Calatrava bridge to get from P. Roma to the station, and thence to your accomodation.
Thank you. I just needed to know where the drop off was.
Aussie - why do you describe the Calatrava Bridge as ‘detested’? Inquiring minds want to know. Ohhh… think I just figured it out. That thing is slippery!
And the Bridge has lots of steps!
Or you can take the Alilaguna water bus from the airport, about €15 each , Orange line, to the Madonna dell Orto stop, depends on where your hotel is. Ask the lodging regarding the transportation options. The best meaning fastest and most exciting is the private water taxi, about €140. The #5 bus to Piazza Roma is probably the cheapest.
Enjoy this wonderful city.
Is it possible that a vaporetto from Piazzale Roma would get you closer to your lodgings, so you wouldn’t have to cross the detested bridge with your luggage? Here’s a vaporetto map: https://www.venice.nu/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/mappa_linee_di_navigazione-_OTTOBRE_2023_web.pdf
Before getting on board, you could go ahead and buy vaporetto passes for the time period you need - they come in 1-, 2-, 3-, and 7 days.
And if you buy at the airport, you can include the No 5 bus from the airport door to Piazzale Rome at a discount.
