I'm hoping there is a left luggage room at Marco Polo airport as we are flying there and will arrive this Friday a.m. Our plan is to spend one night in Venice; then return to the airport to pick up our rental car which I have already reserved for the following day. We do not want to carry luggage for our family of four unnecessarily. So does anyone know if we can leave bags at the airport for about 27 hours? Kris
I was in Venice a couple of weeks ago and rented the car from Piazzale Roma, right next to the train station. Is that an option for you? You could save the costs of returning to the airport that way.
Here is a link to the Marco Polo website that says there is a left luggage service. I have not used it and don't know for certain that it is there. However this is a current link at their web portal.

I'm not sure about luggage storage at the airport but there is a staffed left luggage facility at the Venezia Santa Lucia train station. As mentioned above, the Piazzale Roma vaporetto/bus/tax/rental car area is one vaporetto stop away from the train station.
You'll get a lot of warnings on this site about picking up your rental car from central city locations. Venice is not one of those places. It's very easy to drive out of town because you are on a limited access road directly on to the bridge to the mainland and then the Autostrada. I'd urge you to pick up your rental car at Piazzale Roma. You'll have to go there to get back to the airport anyway.
Thanks for your input everyone. I have changed my rental car pickup to Piazzale Roma. I love this site!
