Marco Polo Airport Transfer/Vaporetto Time limit

I can't seem to find out whether the Marco Polo transfer that I am going to buy on line with the 72 hour vaporetto ticket has a time limit as well. The website says the vaporetto time limit clock starts ticking the moment it's used. But does the clock start ticking the moment the Marco Polo Bus transfer is used? If so that is a major bummer. If I am staying 4 days and only able to use 3 days of vaporetto, will my return transfer to the airport be expired on the 4th day when I'm ready to use it?

Mark, it would be better to calculate by hours rather than days.

Hi Zoe

Thanks for your reply.

I guess I don't understand how the tickets are used. So 72 hours doesn't mean 3 days, it means the amount of the time you're actually standing on the boat?

The passes are issued by number of hours, not number of days.

The passes are equipped with chips which you swipe across a reader as you wait to board a boat. The 72 hours starts from the moment you first swipe the pass. It ends exactly 72 hours later.

Nigel is right. Many transportation passes expire at midnight on the "day", but your vaporetto pass starts counting down the hours at the first time you scan it and expires 72 hours later. Also unlike some other passes, you have to scan (or tap) it each time you board the vaporetto. Scan machines are at the boarding dock before you board the vaporetto.
