March Trip to Sicily

Any thoughts or experiences this year on Covid restrictions for use of cafes, restaurants in Sicily? We are not sure about cancelling this trip. Will Sicily have recovered from the tough Covid winter? Will enjoying Italian cafes and family run restaurants be difficult with restrictions and/or lack of product. Seems visiting museums, etc not a problem. We are vaccinated and boosted and don't at all mind masking. It would be sad to cancel this trip (again!) but we want to enjoy it and also not feel we are a burden to the Italians. Any ideas/thoughts welcome. Many thanks for this great resource!

My wife and I plan on spending all of May in Sicily. We have non of your doubts and anxiety. Not canceling unless Italy closes it’s borders. I think most of Europe will be open for travelers this spring. March may be cold and wet though.

Susan, We are also going to Sicily in March... maybe see you there? We will be on a cycling trip for only part of the time. The cycling company has strict rules for us and has told us about the restrictions in Italy. We know that the Italians are taking this virus far more seriously than here in the US and we are not worried. The Omicron variant appears to be declining both here and in other countries as well. No one can be sure what will happen next month but the indications seem to be good. Most of the folks who have written in this forum about Covid in Italy have said that our CDC Vax cards are the key to getting in to cafes and museums, etc. in Italy. You should study the most recent posts, especially the extensive post by Aimee. Also, please remember that those same family run cafes have been having a rocky two years and would love the business from safety minded customers. Bon Viaggio and hope to see you there.
