Has anyone visited the Carrara area recently? We plan to train through the area and will not have an auto. Suggestions re touring companies and which quarry to visit with limited time? Thanks!

In 2006 I used Rick Steves-recommended Sara Massa for a daylong tour of the quarries. She was GREAT!
Not sure if she's still doing tours, but at the time her e-mail was [email protected]. Maybe check the latest ETBD Italy book for updated contact info.

Thank you for her email address. Do you remember if she was able/willing to pick up at the train station and tour for a few hours instead of all day?

She picked me up in her car at my hotel (which, incidently, was right next to the station), and drove me around. I think it was only 4 or 5 hours. It was a Saturday, so I got a private tour. 50 euros.
As I recall, she was very flexible.
