Map of Spello

Hi Travel Forum: I've been trying to find a detailed map of the village of Spello in Umbria to no avail. I plan to just meander, but a tourist sort of map would be helpful at first. Does anyone know how I can get one?

Hi Esther, I was just there in June and did have a map I found on-line. Let me look for it….

Hi Esther, I’m not finding the one I saw on-line. I do remember that it wasn’t as thorough as I had hoped, and I ended up taking two screenshot photos of the bottom and top half of the town from Google maps because it would show the restaurants, shops & hotel name.

If you’re coming by train, the station is on the flat portion. You walk towards the hill, go through a roundabout, and start walking up hill. Spello is a lovely village on a very steep hill, so have some good traction on your shoes. You really can’t get lost because the side lanes go downwards, so you pretty well will know where you’re at as you roam.

Have a great time!

Hi Esther,
When I visited Spello, I got a map from the TI office on Piazza Giacomo Matteotti 3.
The TI is a bit hidden in this small piazza but the staff were helpful and friendly.

You may want to contact them here & perhaps they can send you a map (pdf): https://www.prospello.it/la-citta/

Hello. An author by the name of Michelle Damiani might be able to help. She and her family lived in Spello for a year and has written a couple of books about their adventures. Her home in the US is in Virginia. Her website is www.michelledamiani.com and email is michelle@ilbelcentro.com. She has been very responsive in replies.

It is a very small town, easy from Train Station. Interesting that the first square from the train station is piazza kennedy as in JFk. I was told that the town wanted to honor him.
I could walk the whole town in 20 minutes or so, it would be difficult to get disoriented.

Thank you for your replies. By coincidence, I just finished Michele Damiani's book about her year in Spello and think I will write to her. It seems it is going to be a magical place.
