can you please share with me the most useful map you've used in roma? the fleximap sounds good. thanks
Michelin has a walking map of Roma. National Geographic a laminated one. Mapeasy does one of their trademark ones.
We use the tear off maps available at the hotel --- one with the advertising around the edges. We mark each days travels on the map and save it for the scrapebook. Get a new one everyday. Found them to be accurate, convenient and FREE.
In addition to those mentioned by Kent above, take a look at http://www.streetwisemaps.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=32
We just got back from Rome. We bought the Rick Steve's map of Italy which is good. If not, go to the Vatican your first day and take the 110 bus. You will get a map and you will get a great over view of the city and the location of the sites.
I travel to Italy quite often so I use the "streetwise maps" which cost about $9.00 each at most book stores here in the states. If you're only planning on using the map for this trip then go for the free maps available at most hotels, why spend the extra cash.

We used the free maps they gave out at the Tourist Info Center- they worked out just fine!
we just returned and the maps from the hotel are great and free...you can circle everything and they were very easy jo
