We wish to stay in one of these villages in the Cinque Terre and can't find any place to stay in May--we've sent many emails and everything seems to be booked. Looking for a reasonable priced, clean place with private bath. How have you found lodging? Does anyone have a recommendation for a less-known place that is nice and may have room? Can one just "show up" and get a room at the last minute? I appreciate any tips!

I stayed in Montereroso al Mare at Albergo Pasquale in Rick bk. Realize these are small towns so if they are full your option is to just show up early and do what Rick says, ask around. If you are uncomfortable with that stay in wonderful Sta Margarita Ligure (Hotel Nuova Riviera) and ferry to CT.It is more developed but very enjoyable.

We're staying in Vernazza in June at Affittacamere il Frantoio. double bed with bathroom, price is
60 euro per night. Like Rick says, there are alot of rooms that are 'non-advertised' but can be found on other websites.
