In early October my wife and I will be traveling from a businesss trip from Malta to Paris and have only four days. I'm looking for suggestions. We have not been to Italy nor seen much of France outside of Paris. We have limited time but are considering rail / ferry to travel and enjoy the sights (very quickly)... Any suggestions are welcome. Fly to Paris and visit France near Paris. Loire Valley is not too far.

Ditto Roberto. Fly on one of the lo-cost inter EU airlines that you can find on Whichbudget.com or Skyscanner.com. Watch airport locations and luggage restrictions.

In case you're wondering why everyone (including me) is recommending flying, here's how you would get from Malta to Paris by land/sea, from the Man in Seat 61: http://tinyurl.com/m3pohrz. Reverse his directions, and skip the Paris to London part, and you can see it takes 3 days just for the transit, so you wouldn't have time to see anything.
